And now it can be told…

And now it can be told… My employer has merged with its arch rival. It is reported to be a merger of equals and a combination of strengths. In reality, it feels a little less “equal” as the transition thus far has been a bit bumpy. I suspect more bumps lay ahead as we merge our operating systems and further define roles and responsibilities. But I have signed my offer letter, picked up slack where slack needs to be picked up, and continue to hope for the best. Having a job is a good thing, given the alternative.

I hope this merger business doesn’t mean an end to your essential position as keeper of the snacks

Never fear! Not only am I still the keeper of the snacks, unfortunately I’ve become the default person for purchasing snacks and busing tables. (Sigh.)

I didn’t realize you and I now work for the same company, if you’re talking about what I think you are. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah. I’m a Sprint guy. We’re also calling the Nextel thing a “merger of equals”, hence my confusion. ๐Ÿ™‚

My condolences. Of course, “they” will always call such a move “a merger of equals”. That’s just biz-speak and has no bearing on reality. Just remember, actions speak louder than words….
