Ice. I hate ice….

Hunkered down and waiting out the ice storm. The rain had been fairly heavy and steady for the past few hours. The temp is staying around 30 degrees, but the icicles are forming on the trees and roofline.

Dang fool neighbor has a lighted, inflatable snowman out on the lawn, but weight of the ice received so far has it smushed in pretty bad. He should just turn it off.

I’ll be working from home for the next day or so, ’cause I’m not going out in that mess. I have a pressing deadline on a big project, and at least at home I don’t have to listen to the customer service girl on the other side of the cube wall. (Since she moved in a few weeks ago, I’ve started wearing foam ear plugs and my over-the-ear headphones with music cranked up when I need to concentrate. Which is most of the time.) And I serve a better grade of coffee here at home.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the power stays on and everybody stays warm….

    I’m with you

my phone ran out of juice and Carol D called while it was off, asking if she could use the Doms suite if necessary. I’ll call her in the a.m. to let her know that it certainly is (My neighborhood gets much better KCPL service than her suburban neighborhood). At least the stupid tree(tm) was cut down, last time we had ice, if she hadn’t left home when she did her car would have been stuck inside. Our stupid tree(tm) has caused us to move the cars back a car length–the mulberry has a branch near the edge of the stump that is iffy, could split off.

Phone charged, laptop charged, Did, however, discover that some furry butthead has played with my phone charger dongle enough to bite the button off. Had plugged phone in before I discovered it. Had to use a pen to free the little latches… grrrrr.

No work for me today. Office shut down.

    >I’ve started wearing foam ear plugs

Where did you get these? I’d like some. Actually, I’d like to rubber variety, but figure a place that has one might have the other.

Stay warm and dry and electrified.

Foam ear plugs: drug store, next to the ear drops. They’re labeled “for hearing protection” to dampen the sound of heavy equipment and gunfire. Some of Miss Chatty’s banter still leaks through, so I add the earphones and music…

Glad to hear you’re OK. I saw your ice storm on the Weather Channel this morning and was about to e-mail you to make sure things were all right at your house. Stay warm!
