    How wonderful!

My son saw his first robin of spring this past Sunday. He was delighted.

    I have

been hearing the for a few days now, but Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal have staked out the cherry tree out front and have run the blue jay off already, and presumably the robins. they don’t seem to mind the house finches, dark-eyed (formerly slate) juncos and purple finches that hang out pretty much all year.

Heard my first one (the first one about which I felt sure) on Thursday morning, then saw one a few minutes later.

I don’t think all of our robins left this winter. When the pipe broke last month and we had a small stream for a day and a half out front there were six dancing around, and I saw what looked to be a baby one unhappily sitting under one of my trees in the snow. i think they’re confused.

The weathergeek pointed out last night that the KC area had twice as many “snow events” this winter than it did last winter. Sigh.
