There and back again…

I’m back from my weekend trip. These will be fewer and less frequent now that I have a cat that needs insulin twice a day. I enjoy hanging out in a hotel room. I can crank the heat up as high as I want. I take endless hot showers without fear of the tank running dry or the looming specter of the gas bill. Someone else cooks breakfast and makes the coffee (but I do have to go downstairs to pick it up). I usually shop when I’m there, but this time I did more browsing than real “shopping.” I did find another good book on figure drawing on the clearance rack and added two more attitude buttons to my collection. The weather was gorgeous. I listened to several chapters of George R.R. Martin’s “Storm of Swords” and sketched cats. Some of them have wings.

Storm of Swords is his best book, I think. I just finished reading A Feast for Crows. Have you purchased it yet?

I’ve got my own copy in my hot little hands… and I’m on the library waiting list for the audio recording. I listen to books when I can get them unabridged. A weird quirk of my arthritis makes it very tiring for me to read for the length of time it takes to get through a big fat fantasy. Meanwhile, I’m listening to the first three books again to get ready for “Feast for Crows”. In audio, each book is about 40 hours.

I purchased the audiobook version of A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings to listen to while I made my way to Iraq. Most of it I loved but once I had my copy of Feast, I just wanted to get through them so I could read it. đŸ™‚ And I also have listened to a couple of Patrick Obrian’s Aubrey novels but only the unabridged. What’s the point of the abridged versions??
