Catching up…

This journal isn’t exactly a daily record of my life. I check in on my friends’ pages regularly, I just don’t always get around to posting about my own life. So, to catch up…this previous weekend was busy:

Playin’ Dress Up: On Saturday evening, my sweetie took me to Cerner’s charity gala, a black tie event. It was lovely! I haven’t dressed up in years, even though I used to have a reputation for being overdressed for every occasion. I suppose my outfit was a bit dowdy, compared to some of the Barbie dolls and trophy wives in attendance. (I wore billowy palazzo pants, satin bodice, beaded jacket, and beaded flats rather than a gown and heels.) It was, however, my sweetie’s first experience with a tuxedo. He cleans up real nice. REAL nice. We had a good time, we ate good food, and we even danced a bit. (And my feet only hurt a little the next day. Yeah!)

A Sunday Drive: On Sunday, we drove through the Northland then over to Leavenworth in search of pretty foliage. This just isn’t a good year for color. Some of the trees are changing to dulled hues of yellow and brick red. I suspect the rest will go straight to brown any day now. While at Leavenworth, we stopped at the commissary to lay in a supply of canned goods, soda, and gluten-free flour. We also picked up a snack, which we ate while sitting on a bench overlooking the river.

OCD Cats: The cats are, well, still Trouble with a capital T. Mischief has progressed from merely grooming my hair during the night to kneading my hair (and scalp) with claws extended. Sure, she’s just showing her complete devotion to me, but this has got to stop because I need sleep! Any ideas? (Yeah, I know I can boot them out, but…) Meanwhile, Mayhem compulsively kneads the blue blankets on the bed and the couch (why is he so fond of blue?), but he courteously keeps his claws retracted.

Perhaps Mayhem’s attraction to blue is related to his level of color perception?

“Cats responded to the colors purple, blue, green and yellow range. Red, orange and brown colors appear to fall outside cats color range and are most likely seen as dark to mid shades of gray.
Cats appear to see less saturation in colors than do humans, meaning cats do not see colors as intensely or vibrantly. Purple, blue & green appear to be the strongest colors perceived by cats”
