I spoke too soon…

Recently, I commented in someone’s journal (probably[info]dragonet2 or bevhale) that I was so glad the Trouble Twins don’t hide recently deceased critters in the basement the way they hide their toys down there. I spoke too soon. Apparently, one or both of my little monsters acquired a mouse today, unfortunately for the mouse. Fortunately for me (actually, for my Sweetie, who discovered and disposed of the evidence), the mouse was intact and only recently deceased.

Edit 11:30 pm: The cats cornered a garter snake on the screen porch this evening. It apparently kept the Trouble Twins entertained for several hours before I rescued it from them. … That’s it. We’re keeping the front door closed from now on. If the cats want back in, they’ll have to knock… and submit to a strip search.

I found a dried mouse head under the fridge when I lived in California. I have no idea which cat put it there or what happened to the body.

    I’m glad

Badb Catha is so proud of her work. I find the carcasses in the doorway to my bedroom.

Though I did find a dead very small mouse on top of the steps to the basement, desiccated enough that we may have walked past it–it did look like a shlog of dust and as very very small. It may have died on its own en route to the upstairs…

My sympathy for your sweetie, I’m pest control around here.
