Back in the saddle again…

Today is the first real workday of the new year, so I started attacking the classifieds with the new resume. There are still precious few jobs out there, but more than there were six months ago. Many of them are entry level positions. I just keep telling myself that something has to shake loose soon.

I also returned to my ‘underemployment’ job as evening receptionist for a friend’s IT training firm. It’s not a bad gig for the interim — hourly wage, 24 hours a week, 4 p.m to 10 p.m. It gets me out of the house, enables me to interact with real live people, and isn’t too strenuous (except on my sitting muscles!) I am getting the opportunity to learn some new software packages while I sit here, and there may soon be an opportunity to take on some additional higher-paying freelance projects. (Of course, they’ve been saying that for months, so we’ll see if anything changes with the new year.)

Meanwhile, I’ve been packing and shipping junk I’ve sold on eBay, and experimenting with turning my computer into an mp3 jukebox. Tomorrow I must really take down the Christmas tree. I procrastinated putting it up, now I’m procrastinating taking it down…
