Pre-con Painting Panic

As usual, I’m scurrying around trying to meet a bunch of deadlines, some of which are looming and some of which are past due.

I’ve spent most of the weekend in my office, finishing up some paintings to show at ConQuesT in two weeks. Mischief and Mayhem, of course, want to help. I’ve been letting them into the studio more often lately, with the understanding that if they get too annoying, they’ll both be evicted. Luckily, after a brief but annoying reconnaissance mission upon entering the room, they retreat to an out-of-the-way spot to nap.

Along with the act of painting comes the tedious busy work: scanning the paintings, deciding which ones to make prints of, cleaning up the image files, and making the prints. Then comes the work of cutting mats, framing the originals, bagging the prints, and creating the bid sheets and control sheets. If I’m lucky, I’ll finish the painting and scanning parts tonight. I haven’t even started cutting mats or printing prints. I’d like to cut the mats for at lease one of the larger paintings tonight. I guess I’d better get on with it….

In other news, I’ve been working on a website re-design for the KC2009 bid and need to finish that up tonight, too. And I think my camera is kaput — the light meter and autofocus aren’t working properly. Bah, humbug.

Yikes. Good luck with the final. I’m still no closer to being done than I was when I originally made that post. Argh.

    Wanna borrow my kid?

I can send my stepson over to cut mats for you. He’s getting his work together for his spring photography show and he’s been a mat-cutting fool lately.
